Fairest of the Fair Contest

The Ozaukee County Fair will be holding a “Fairest of the Fair” contest again this year. The contests will be held during the Ozaukee County Fair on Wednesday, July 30, 2008.

Fairest of the Fair Applicants must:

1. Reside in Ozaukee County in accordance with Wisconsin Association of Fairs rules.
2. Be 18 years old by January 1, 2009.
3. Be available to compete in state “Fairest of the Fairs” competition. The state competition is held in January during the State Convention of County Fairs.
4. Be available to reign as hostess of the next State Fair if selected as the “Fairest of the Fairs” during the state convention. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS JULY 9, 2008.

Teen Battle of the Bands

Hey teens-looking for some cash? Enter your teen band in the 5th annual Ozaukee County Fair Battle of the Bands, Sunday, August 3, 2008. There are two categories, ages 14 and younger, and ages 15 to 19. The "Battle" will take place at the Main Gate stage.

Entry deadline is July 29, 2008.

Rules:

• The competition will be divided into two age groups:
• Ages 14 and under
• Ages 15 to 19
• At least half the band members must reside in Ozaukee county
• Contest will be limited to twelve bands maximum
• Each band will be allowed a maximum of 15 minutes for their performance
• Bands will play on half of the stage to allow the next band to set up while they are playing
• Songs can be either cover songs or their own composition
• Since this is a family event NO foul language or obscene gestures will be allowed
• Entry fee is $10.00 per band

Prizes in each age group will be:

• First Prize: $220.00
• Second Prize: $100.00
• Third Prize: $50.00
• Remaining Places: $25.00

Bands will be judged on:

• Musical Ability
• Musical Interpretation
• Appearance
• Presentation

Sound system and 5 piece drums will be provided to make it easier and faster to switch over between bands. You must bring your own snare drum and symbols.

Winners will be announced after the competition.
